What causes synchronicities? I once thought that they were probably caused by complex folds in Time-Space, which caused echos to permeate in many directions that are attached by a focal point.

However, having given more thought to our probable multidimensionality, I am certain they arise due to the physical attachement of our selves to others in dimensions of which we are not aware.

Those who have read Flatland by Edwin Abbott know what I am talking about. In his book, among other topics, he discussed a trip he made from Flatland (a Flatlander himself; i.e. two dimensional) to Spaceland (i.e. our three dimensional world) and then to Lineland (where he could not persuade the King that there was such a place as Flatland with more than one dimension). When he returned to Flatland he was imprisoned for his views stating that there was such a place as Spaceland with three dimensions.

Likewise, we are unable to perceive the many "other" dimesions of ourselves. We may truly exist in 4, 5, 57, or some infinite or variable number of dimensions. How would we know? We have no tools to perceive such extensions of ourselves.

If you will humor me and accept that such dimensions may exist, than it may be possible that objects that are separate and distinct in our three dimensional world are actually connected in other dimensions.

Consider a U-Bolt for example, poking through a piece of paper. The people living in the "flatland" of that piece of paper perceive the U-Bolt as merely two discs in their world. They are not connected. And if the U-bolt was articulated or jointed, the ends might even appear to move entirely independantly in that flatland.

So, we may be connected to other people, other animals, or even other apparently inanimate objects in other dimensions (great, just my luck; I'm stuck to a toaster in another dimension...) In fact we may all (all living things) be connected in some combination of dimensions.

Extending this possibility further, we may all share one common life force. Perhaps that is God. I do not know. It would make sense, though, that we could all be finger-like projections of life force into these three dimensions, all stemming from the same being. And, we don't even know it. The upshot is that when we die, we don't die. Our life force still exists as part of the whole; the over-soul. merely our physical extension in these three dimensions no longer exists. We may continue to be quite alive in other dimensions.

Perhaps then, when we find a "soulmate" (if we are that lucky), we have found another individual with whom we are connected in some number of other dimensions. Or, as we become attached to others, perhaps we merge in some fluid manner in other dimesions, forming those interpersonal bonds.

My wife and I seem to have a lot of National Public Radio synchronicities; perhaps that is because they broadcast my thoughts. Regardless, one time she was driving in her car passing the Dysartsville Exit on Interstate 40, when she thought "hmm... there is a Nurse in town by the name of M. Dysart." Right at that moment, the announcer on National Public Radio mentioned that the show was being sponsored by M. Dysart! That is a Triple Synchronicity!

Here is a synchronicity for you, as promised. One day, I was in my car with my son, who noticed part of my old stamp collection in a box in the car. He picked up an envelope of stamps and asked where they were from and I replied that "those are the stamps your grandpa and grandma brought back from Rome; they bought them at the Vatican Gift Shop. Immediately as I was saying this, the radio announcer on National Public Radio announced that the preceding song was performed by The Vatican Gift Shop, a musical group. Now that was uncanny in that I never have my stamp collection in my car, and I rarely listen to the radio. On top of all that, what are the odds that we both would utter The Vatican Gift Shop at the same time?
