- 5. 3 week old swallows air - Top
- Q: My 3-week old baby boy has a problem sucking a nipple for his bottle. He is not breastfed. He gulps way, way too much air. This causes extreme gas problems. What might cause his sucking problem??
A: This is a common problem, called "Aerophagia". You may find that a different type of nipple helps cut down the air swallowing, or some people have told me that the Dr Brown's bottles help. Burp the baby well. Gas drops such as Mylicon given before the bottle may help him burp better.
