    The only time we have tonsils taken out anymore is when there is repeated infections (strep 6 times in a year, tonsillitis 3 times in a season) or true Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). OSA is not just snoring, it is those people who really do stop breathing and hold their breath and snort all night.
