    Q: Are ear infections contagious?

    A: Ear infections (middle ear infections) are in an enclosed area (the middle ear) and therefore do not expose others to the germs involved. The problem arises in that meet ear infections fellow a Cold, and the Cold which causes the ear infection is contagious. So some children exposed to a child with a cold and ear infection will catch the cold and this may result in an ear infection.
