- 4. my daughter's periods are irregular - Top
- O: Our daughter has been having her period for six months now but is very irregular; should she be seen for this?
A: Menstruation is commonly irregular for the first one to two years with some periods coming in 2 weeks and then other times skipping months. The body takes some time to organize the proper hormonal cycle. Some young ladies start immediately with regular cycles but most have some degree of irregularity. If the irregularity is bothersome to your daughter or she is having some heavy bleeding, she should be seen by her physician or a gynecologist.. - Updated: March 23, 2001
