- 7. What are the effects if a nursing mother takes sulfa antibiotics? - Top
- Sulfa antibiotics are often given to babies, and so there is no harm if they receive it through the breast milk. That is, unless the baby is ALLERGIC to sulfa (Septra, Bactrim, Pediazole). If your baby is allergic to sulfa, you should not take it while nursing.
