- 15. How do I know if my baby has thrush? - Top
- Thrush is an infection of the mouth with yeast. It is very common in infants and does not indicate poor hygiene. It appears as white patches on the mucus membranes of the mouth or on the tongue. It looks like milk but cannot be wiped off easily like milk can. Yeast is a fungus and is found commonly in our environment and survives well in a warm moist environment. Treatment is fairly easily prescribed by your physician and as a rule thrush resolves without any major problems for your child.
