- For most babies, it is optional. Some babies like being rubbed-down after their bath.
If your baby does have dry skin, you can use a lotion one to three times a day as needed, especially after her bath. I like Eucerin cream or Lotion (the cream gives the best moisturizing but is a bit greasy). Most "Baby" products have perfumes in them that can irritate soft skin. But, if baby lotion doesn't bother your baby, and you like the smell, go ahead and use it! - Updated: March 5, 2001
