    6. I am getting acne. What can I do? - Top

    Acne is a natural part of going through puberty an can range from mild to severe. It is due to increase oil secretions and blockage of oil duct/gland in the skin. For most people, it will pass in time but most teenagers are very conscious of their appearance and would like to improve it if possible. There are several good topical therapies that are very safe. If you are concerned about your acne, come and talk to us about treatment options. If you have already tried one treatment approach without satisfactory results, do not give up- there are many was to treat this problem.

    In general, use a mild facial soap (not antibacterial soap), and a wash cloth. Wash your face with moderate circular motions. Do this at least twice a day. Do not try to "pop zits", just gently rub them with the wash cloth to avoid scarring your skin. In general it is not helpful to use astringent preparations (alcohol containing drying products).
