    2. Lincoln, by Brandon Kerr - Top

    It was the winter of 1809 the little one was one of a kind.
    He grew to be skinny and tall and stood above all.
    He didn't need a pack, he kept his notes in his tall black hat.
    Boat builder, general store owner, and postmaster was he
    Not knowing how important to us he would be.
    He was a teller of jokes, and loved an audience of lots of folks.
    A Congressman he became, then he found himself on a train.
    To the White House he would go, his wife Mary and pet turkey in stow.
    He was number 16, people of the North thought he was mean.
    Slaves loved him because he set them free.
    Many others too, that weren't too blind to see.
    Booth took his life right before his wife.
    Assassination they call it, on April 15, 1865
    A sad day for America and all of mankind.
