- 33. What can I do for a canker sore or mouth ulcer? - Top
- Canker sores are very painful and usually take 10 days to heal and unfortunately some people are prone to recurrences. We do not have a treatment for them but you can help relieve the
pain. You can use a mouth rinse made of 1/2 teaspoon of Benadryl elixir- and 1/2 teaspoon of Mylanta or Maalox. They can "swish" this and not swallow (although a small dose is not harmful). This can be used before meals and before bedtime for pain relief.
