20. My nine month old child has no teeth yet - Top
Q: My nine month old child has no teeth yet and my grandmother says late teeth are stronger than early teeth; should I be concerned or happy?
A: I have seen first teeth erupt as early as a few months and as late as 15 months. There in no correlation between when teeth come in and their eventual strength or weakness. The timetable for a child's tooth eruption is very individualized and there is nothing we can do to change this. You should not be concerned about no teeth at nine months; just take good care of your child’s gums and then the teeth when they do come in. - Updated: March 25, 2001
