- Seborrhea is a common skin condition at all ages. In infants it usually is found on the scalp and face (cradle cap). In older children and adults it is often found in skin folds and on other parts of the body.
Seborrhea is often treated with steroid creams, and using anti-seborrhea shampoos (such as Selsun Blue) on the affected body parts.
Seborrhea, unlike eczema is Not allergic in nature, and thus changing formulas should play no role in its course. Seborrhea also should not scar.
It is important to determine whether a person is really talking about seborrhea, or eczema which is more common. In either case, with proper skin care the problem can be managed to minimize any visible rash and to avoid long term skin effects.
