- 2. How do you alternate Tylenol with Advil? - Top
- Many people (often on the recommendation of their doctor) treat high fevers by alternating Tylenol (acetaminophen) with Advil (ibuprophen). There are no good studies that I am aware of that document the safety nor the improved effectiveness of this treatment over one of the drugs alone. It is usually given such that each medicine is given on a six hour dosing schedule, therefore one or the other is given every three hours. - Updated: May 13, 2001
