- 23. How do I help my 4 yr old cope with our new baby? - Top
- Get your child involved with your pregnancy and keep in mind her level of understanding, realizing that the new baby is coming. Have her be able to see you and the new baby as soon as possible after delivery. Remember, you are going to the hospital and your daughter may have all sorts of thoughts about this. She needs to be reassured that you are O.K. Also, a mother suggested to me one time for the older child to go out with one parent and buy the baby a present and when she gives the present to the baby, have a present for the baby to give to the older child. I have since suggested this to several families with good positive bonding for the siblings.
