A: Shots are a problem for most children. The fear is usually worse than the actual pain. Be honest with your child tell her there is some pain hut it will he over quickly. There was a recent report in Pediatrics that showed children age 4 to 7 years old could reduce the pain or perceived pain of immunizations by blowing repeatedly like they were blowing bubbles. Thin apparently distracts theft, similar to mother's panting during contractions. If your daughter is old enough, you can practice this technique with her before her next shot.
