    14. How to handle a disruptive child at your home - Top

Q: How do you handle, tactfully, another parents disruptive child at your home, with the parent there? B.J.R.

This is a tough situation, but I feel that for the examples you set for your children, you need to respond to this child after you have given their parent a chance and they do not. I feel you should express to the disruptive child that you do not allow that behavior in your house. You thereby tell that child and their parent the ground rules for your home and reinforce to your children the rules you expect them to follow. The other parent may become upset with your reprimand but even children need to learn to accept different standards under different circumstances and you have a responsibility to show your child that you are consistent with your rules.
