- There are a number of reasons why it is better to have your baby sleep in his crib.
First, it is SAFER. Infants who sleep in their parent's beds are more likely to suffocate and are more likely to experience SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). They are also more likely to fall out on to the floor (it happens all the time...)
Second, it is harder later on to get a toddler out of your bed and into the crib.
Third, a baby in a crib is more likely to sleep through the night. - Updated: March 5, 2001
