- 11. Immunizations: MMR - Top
- MMR is the immunization for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. This is presently recommended as an injection at age 12-15 months and a booster at 4-5 years. The need for the booster dose was discovered when there were some Measles outbreaks across the country a few years ago.
There are no major complications to the MMR immunization. If there is a reaction to the MMR, it is usually around 7-10 days after the injection and demonstrates itself as a fever and rash lasting approximately 3 days.
Female teenagers receiving this immunization may have some aching of their joints for up to several weeks (uncommonly), but no permenant problems. - Updated: June 6, 2001
